Today we welcome Amesbury Town and today's match officials to the club for this Wessex League 1 match.
There were only 2 games in our league last week and thanks to the hard work of the committee we were one of them. The pitch held up really well and with strong winds the team played well and came away with a 7-0 win against a struggling Shaftesbury side. Goals from Callum Earl, Matt Redman, Ian Moore (2) Matt Davison (2) and Dan Fry.
However this game will be a much tougher match and the lads will have to be at their best to defeat an Amesbury side that had had some good results against some of the top teams in this league.
Just a reminder that on Saturday 28th we are holding a race night in the club to raise much needed funds for the club so please support us with that. We also have our Christmas draw tickets available at £1 each.
If we are to maintain our position at the top of the league we must ensure that we remain at our very best as teams are more determined to beat you and each game must be treated as the most important of the season ,starting with today's
Thanks for your support and let's hope for a good game and another 3 points
Colin Stewart
For what will be our fourth consecutive home game we welcome the officials, players and supporters of Amesbury Town to Long Lane for our Wessex League One match this afternoon. With the visitors in decent form, our previous encounter this season producing a draw and the opposition having achieved good results against teams in the top half of the table, I expect another tough test and look forward to an entertaining match today
Last week, despite difficult conditions, we continued our own fine form with a 7-0 win against Shaftesbury that kept us at the top of the league and opened a small gap between ourselves and our nearest rivals. With the threat of the weather removing any difference in the sides our players worked hard and applied them self well to earn a comprehensive win. It was also good to see us keep a clean sheet as part of a good overall display
Despite the above positive progress we know that things can change very quickly in football and so we will be making sure that we prepare ourselves as well as possible for the game today. With previous games now in the past, this game is the most important of the season so far. The management team focus is on making sure that the players are prepared for today and produce the performance needed to gain the right result to continue our progress in the league
Enjoy the game
